Presentation Description

This presentation we will delve into the project overview of the Gowrie to Kagaru (PPP) section of the Inland Rail project. Spearheaded by the “REGIONerate RAIL” consortium, this segment’s preliminary design was meticulously crafted by the Design Joint Venture (DJV), comprising industry leaders Arcadis, GHD, and Italferr.

Through this presentation we will explore the fundamental technical aspects, design intricacies, and the seamless integration with existing Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and Queensland Rail infrastructure. Moreover, we’ll provide insights into the utilization of Bentley OpenRail design software, an indispensable tool utilized for design and modelling during the preliminary design phase.

Title : Battery Power for Rail Freight

Presentation Description

Arcadis are presently working with a Western Australian large mining company to convert rail operations from diesel power to fully battery powered between its mines and Ports of distances over 200km.

The goal is the decarbonisation of mining rail freight with the 2km long 244-wagon freight trains fully utilising the renewable electricity obtained from local solar farms and plentiful in the area.

The presentation discusses the options currently being considered and challenges of implementing such a system in this remote territory without the power infrastructure found around large cities.
