“Steve Johnson is a self-confessed railway nerd.
He willingly entered the rail sector in 2000 and has never wanted to leave. Steve studied for a Masters in Railway Systems Engineering at The University of Sheffield with the intention of starting a career in railways.
Since then, Steve has predominantly worked in the track renewals area of the industry, focusing for many years on turnout renewals, and moving to plant operations and more recently big yellow railway toy sales.
Steven has a keen interest in continuous improvement. Combining his interest in improvement with his experience of turnout renewals, he has worked on projects delivering improvements in the way turnouts are renewed in the UK and Sydney, with Sydney Trains.
Steven is now the General Manager of Customer at Plasser Australia, with responsibility for the customer facing parts of the business, including Sales, Marketing, Field Service and Spare Parts.”

Matthew is the East Coast Service Manager at Plasser Australia, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the rail industry with extensive expertise in Plasser machines. Before joining Plasser Australia, he held technical and leadership roles with Sydney Trains and worked closely with the Plasser as a customer, giving him a strong understanding of customer needs.
Since joining the company in 2020, Matthew has played a key role in the delivery and commissioning of new and refurbished machines, drawing on his broad technical expertise across mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. He now leads post-factory testing, commissioning and service support across Australia’s East Coast and New Zealand while also supporting operations in Western Australia.
Known for his technical knowledge and practical approach to problem-solving, Matthew is committed to delivering reliable service and building strong partnerships with customers throughout Australia and New Zealand.
