Jarod Wakefield Bio, Construction Manager – John Holland

Jarod brings over 12 years of construction industry experience working on large-scale, complex rail projects, including Sydenham Station Junction and Junction Works and Sydney Metro Northwest Rapid Transit. On Epping to Chatswood Rail Line, Jarod worked closely with Sydney Trains to connect brownfield track to the new greenfield Metro over an intensive 12-week construction period. He was recognised at the 2019 Australian Rail Industry Awards as PWI Young Rail Engineer of the Year.

The Chartered Institution of Railway Operators Australia & New Zealand – Who are we and what do we do?

CIRO  details

The Chartered Institution of Railway Operators is an organisation for Railway Operators, run by Railway Operators.  Founded in the UK 25 year ago, its purpose is to assist and support rail professionals in their development, today and in the future.  The vision is:

 

“To support improvement in the quality of the railway operations workforce and help railway organisations succeed”

 

Huw Bridges, Huw has been involved in Public Transport for over 40 years.  He has worked in and across multiple modes, including Heavy & Light Rail, Ferries and Buses in the UK and Internationally, His career has taken him from a Junior Railman at Cricklewood Carriage Sidings to the Chief Safety & Assurance Officer at Transdev Australia & New Zealand, providing oversight across the four modes mentioned earlier.  Focussing on Operations and Safety, his career has included direct exposure to the rail accidents at Southall (1997), Ladbroke Grove (1999) and Potters Bar (2002).  Huw has also had the good fortune to work at a policy and governance level, working with RSSB in the setting of safety standards, the European Rail Agency on the Rail Safety Directive and with Regulators in Australia and New Zealand.  He is the current Chair of the ARA Safety Policy Committee and the Chair of the CIRO Australia and New Zealand Council.
